Fourth Grade News
Our 4th graders are finishing our reading unit on heroes. Your child should be able to explain the characteristics of a hero as well as to list some of America’s heroes. To wrap up the year in reading we will be studying nature and how it can be our friend as well as our enemy. You can assist your child by discussing the spring storms and wildfires in the news. This will not only help to strengthen their background knowledge but enlighten them as well. In math we are reviewing many fourth grade skills as well as moving on to some fifth grade objectives to ensure that the students are fully prepared for next year. At this time, we are focusing on geometry and using our protractors to measure angles (yes, we are finally using the protractors). Most students have mastered this skill in one day! Ask your child to explain how to measure and draw angles. In social studies we will be finishing the study of Maryland with its current government and society. Please include your child in discussions that you may be having at home that pertain to our government and the way that it is run. We are also putting the finishing details on our trip to Annapolis. You will be receiving a letter in the near future that will inform you of all of the important information. We would love to have as many parents as possible join us on this expedition. As the end of the year is in sight, please continue to encourage your child to complete all of their homework as well as to come to school prepared to learn each day. We have some very exciting events planned for our students at the end of the year, but we need to make sure that we are building the foundations that they need in the classroom first! Remember you are welcome to visit us any time you would like! |
