Maple Elementary School was established to serve the children of Cambridge and the surrounding area in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth. Maple has nearly 400 students, which makes it one of the largest elementary schools in Dorchester County. The student population is quite diverse. The home environments of our students range from small city settings to small suburban subdivisions to that of rural farmland.

      This year’s school-wide goals are to continue the improvement of our students’ skill in the areas of Reading, Writing, and Math.  In reading, the teachers are focusing on four specific comprehension skills: clarifying, summarizing, questioning, and predicting.  In math, the SFA MathWings program will continue to be implemented school-wide. In writing, Weekly Readers and Scholastic News magazines will be used to stimulate the students’ writing.  With all our staff working together our students will continue to progress academically.
